VII. Crescendo Summer Institute of the Arts
August 2-16, 2010
Sárospatak, Hungary

Welcome to Crescendo's two-week master course in Sárospatak, Hungary. The Institute provides an excellent opportunity for concentrated work in the performing arts and provides assistance in preparation for exams and auditions. Excellent soloists, Music Academy teachers and members of leading European and American orchestras teach the Institute's master classes to intermediate and advanced students who join us from more than 20 countries.

In 2010, we are offering the following sections:

Voice, opera studio, solo instrument, (violin, viola, cello, flute, oboe, bassoon, French horn, trumpet), chamber music, orchestra, piano, organ, jazz, choral conducting, youth chamber music, theater and visual arts. For details about each section, please see the course descriptions!

Many performing opportunities are provided for students, including performances in the Zemplen Festival.

The Festival Prize will be given to the outstanding performer of the Institute. The winner will receive an invitation to perform in the 2011 Zemplen Festival.

Sárospatak is 250 km East of Budapest, a town with an exceptional devotion to education and the arts. It is accessible by train from Budapest. The Institute is organized by Crescendo, an international Christian movement working together with many churches. In addition to courses and private lessons, students may participate in chapels and small discussion groups concerning challenges that artists face today as well as issues of a Christian worldview. Crescendo also offers personal mentoring. The course is open to all qualified young musicians regardless of their faith persuasion, and participation in the religious elements of the course is optional.

We look forward to meeting you at the Summer Institute and the Crescendo Festival in Hungary this summer!
